WHAT WILL BE EXPECTED OF ME?
Volunteers are required to work from 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday – Friday. There will be no weekend work. Volunteers must be willing to do physical work to the best of their abilities.
HOW LONG CAN I VOLUNTEER FOR?
The minimum stay is one week, starting Monday and ending Friday. NO restrictions on maximum stay.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS, IF ANY, DO I REQUIRE?
No special qualifications are needed. A good work attitude is welcomed.
WILL I NEED TO KNOW ANOTHER LANGUAGE?
A basic understanding of English is required.
HOW DO I GET TO DRAKENSTEIN LION PARK?
Flight to Cape Town International airport, then a taxi or shuttle to Drakenstein Lion Park. (approximately 30 minutes drive)

WHAT TYPE OF ACCOMMODATION, MEALS AND FACILITIES CAN I EXPECT TO BE AVAILABLE TO ME?
Accommodation is provided in wooden cabins, which has a communal kitchen and bathroom. No food is supplied, however, a shopping trip is organised every Monday (food at volunteers expense).
WHAT WILDLIFE SPECIES ARE THERE?
Lions,Tigers and Chimps are the main species.
WHAT ATTRACTIONS CAN I EXPERIENCE DURING FREE-TIME?
There are many attractions in the area. Drakenstein Lion Park is located in the heart of the Cape’s wine region.
Drakenstein Lion Park is an award winning and internationally acclaimed sanctuary for captive born lions that cannot be rehabilitated into the wild. The park provides these displaced lions with a lifetime home in an enriched environment, where they are treated with compassion and respect and allowed to live out their lives with dignity. As a genuine sanctuary, the park is not involved in breeding or any form of commercial trade.
Volunteers need to complete an application form, after which they will be advised whether they will be accepted on the volunteer program
